The Purpose of This Role

The Senior Database Developer for the Workplace Investment team will be responsible for designing and driving implementation of applications/ framework using Oracle, SQL Server, Informatica, Control-M. This technology group provides superior development and maintenance support to the overall Workplace Investment organization.

  • Developing and designing robust high per-performance database solutions.
  • Assessing and researching current implementations of the platform and determining the course of action required to elevate the platform to meet customer needs.
  • Taking the business requirements coupled with existing architecture to set a technical vision for features and major components and clearly articulating the evolutionary steps to achieve it.

The Skills that are Key to this role

  • Experience in PL/SQL programming including packages, procedures, function and triggers.
  • Ability to optimize complex queries and design efficient solutions.
  • Experience working in enterprise environments with version control and deployment standards.
  • Excellent Analytical and problem-solving skills with detail-oriented mindset.
  • Experience in ETL design and development.
  • Experience with data base such as Oracle (Primary), SQL server.
  • Experience of working in Agile methodology.
  • Knowledge of Containerization and cloud deployment related to Database.
  • Ability to build communication and rapport with partners, stakeholders.
  • Ability to adapt in a changing environment and be effective in many different business settings.
  • Ability to take initiative, define vision for betterment of products, and execute at high level of quality
  • Ability to plan and work with geographically spread-out teams
  • Strong presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Curiosity to constantly relearn/explore new processes/technologies

How Our Work Impacts the Organization

The Workplace Investing (WI) Platform technology group within Fidelity Investments is tasked to develop and maintain technology solutions supporting Fidelity's Defined Contribution (DC) business. The platform serves plan sponsors in the configuration of their DC plans and operates in a mixed-technology environment (Java, Spring, Angular, Oracle, ETL) across multiple tiers (web server, app server, DB).

The Expertise we’re looking for

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or similar subject.
  • 7-10 years of experience in information technology.
  • Financial services experience, preferably in retirement Domain.
  • Certification in relevant technologies is preferred.

Skills/Knowledge and experience:

  • Languages: Oracle PL/SQL , Informatica ETL (Mandatory)
  • Databases: Good understanding and experience on RDBMS (Mandatory)
  • Methodology: Agile
  • Others: Other database like SQL Server and Sybase (Advantage)

This group is looking for support at its Merrimack, New Hampshire site to join its dynamic, globally distributed team of IT professionals responsible for the development and maintenance of Fidelity's DC Rules platform.
