Systems Analyst
Fidelity is seeking a Systems Analyst to join our Workplace Investing Technology team supporting the Defined Benefit (DB) platform. This role offers the opportunity to work on mission-critical systems that power pension services for corporations, employees, and retirees, while contributing to a modern, evolving technology ecosystem.
The Team
The Defined Benefit Platform team enables the recordkeeping and administration of pension plans, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and high-quality service delivery across the retirement lifecycle.
We partner across business, operations, and engineering to deliver scalable, resilient solutions, focusing on platform modernization, cloud enablement, system stability, and ongoing enhancements. The team operates in a highly collaborative, fast-moving delivery environment with a strong emphasis on continuous improvement and shared ownership.
The Role
As a Systems Analyst, you will play a key role in bridging business and technology, driving analysis, solution design, and delivery for complex, data-intensive systems. You will work closely with stakeholders, including business partners, business analysts, solution architects, and engineering teams, to translate complex requirements into well-defined, scalable solutions. You will also collaborate to improve system quality, data integrity, and overall platform performance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with DB business stakeholders to analyze requirements and translate them into actionable user stories and backlog items
- Performing complex data analysis and data mining across recordkeeping systems to support business insights and issue resolution
- Collaborating with technical leads and architects to design, document, and maintain system flows, data models, and integration patterns
- Supporting the design and documentation of API contracts and enterprise integrations, aligned with enterprise standards
- Developing a strong understanding of end-to-end DB platform architecture to perform impact analysis across interconnected systems
- Supporting production issue triage, root cause analysis, and timely resolution
- Contributing to team ceremonies, iterative planning, and continuous improvement efforts to enhance delivery quality and efficiency
The Expertise You Have
- BS or above with exceptional skills for business system design and solutions
- 4-6 years of experience in systems analyst, application lifecycle management, and production support
- Experience working with financial systems, recordkeeping platforms, or retirement/benefits administration (Defined Benefit preferred)
- Ability to distill business processes and objectives into well-defined epics/stories/requirements.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex business rules (e.g., pension calculations, eligibility, compliance) and translate them into technical solutions
- Work through ambiguous situations by making timely decisions based on facts, knowledge, experience and judgment is required
- Extensive data analysis skills combined with excellent knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL) is required.
- Working proficiency of object-oriented programming concepts, specifically Java is a nice to have.
- Working knowledge of REST, SOAP, JSON and APIs is a plus
- Highly effective written and verbal communication is a must
- Proven ability to work in a highly coordinated, iterative delivery environment, refining requirements in partnership with stakeholders
Preferred:
- Defined Benefit domain knowledge, including pension calculations, eligibility, and compliance
- Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure
- Experience with data governance, reconciliation, and audit processes
