The Role

In this role, you will be responsible for Requirements, Analysis, and high-level Design, Development for our Oracle Database Development and Enablement Team, known as “eDB2,” supporting Fidelity Institutional Wealth Management Services (IWMS) within FI Technology, and the Data Solutions Product Area. You represent our team on large- and small- scale projects, while also working on individual tasks and support requests. You should enjoy collaborating in-person with leadership and teammates in our NC location, along with stakeholders and teammates across the globe. You should have strong systems analysis process experience, along with good communications skills and a team-first approach.

The Team

As part of the eDB2 Team, you will provide Partner Support for data integration and services required for numerous institutional applications. The tight integration between eDB2 and these applications leads to significant involvement in both Discretionary Projects and TLM and Support activities. You will conduct analysis and design using PL/SQL, SQL, Data Movement and Modernization, and potentially JAVA technologies. Ability to perform ad-hoc PL/SQL reports independently will be a big plus.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

Significant experience in analysis in PL/SQL

  • Experience in one or several of Java, Spring Framework, Cloud applications (AWS), and REST/SOAP Web Services preferred
  • Prior experience with Production Support activities is a plus
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience in a relevant subject area expertise is a plus
  • 5+ years of experience as a Systems Analyst in software application development
  • Proactive, organized, highly responsive and committed to quality
  • Highly effective written and verbal communication is a must; you will be driving refinement sessions
  • Robust critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Confidence to convey technical concepts, capabilities and needs to team members, product owners and other internal partners
  • Experience in various development methodologies, including Agile/Scrum
  • Ability to distill business processes and objectives into well-defined epics/stories/requirements
  • Strong problem-solving skills to effectively tackle sophisticated business problems
  • Ability to work through ambiguous situations by making timely decisions based on facts, knowledge, experience, and judgment
  • Experience with DevOps, Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery is a plus
  • Relevant experience in various systems analysis methodologies, including data analysis, data mapping, flowcharts, uses case development, story writing, set-up / configuration of systems, gap analysis, user acceptance testing and product documentation
  • Proven understanding of Splunk and Datadog is a plus
  • Proven understanding of REST, JSON, and APIs is a plus

  • Performing technical and functional analysis for determining and developing the best delivery approaches based on requirements, swarming and iterating with teammates and your squad leader as needed
  • Providing original and creative technical solutions to ongoing development efforts and central initiatives
  • Desire to understand all phases of testing leading to final implementation, including unit, integration, acceptance testing and production install validation
  • Creating and maintaining clear and concise user documentation and status
  • Providing high-level application support, problem diagnosis, and resolution, supporting the on-call developers
  • Provide systems analysis support on an Agile team that includes multiple business and technology partners (cross business unit, cross domain).
  • Collaborate with multiple other Agile teams (Scaled Agile) to lead dependencies and scope.
  • Work with business and technology partners to define the scope of problems/issues, in terms of business and/or system requirements and processes.
  • Work with Agile team to develop user stories, acceptance criteria, and story maps.
  • Lead backlog refinement sessions. Translate complex business needs into clear, practical, requirements/user stories. Research and evaluate alternative solutions.
  • Evaluate design of existing systems to judge their functionality, efficiency, reliability, performance, usage, maintainability, and cost of ownership.
  • Collaborate with Agile team members to build comprehensive and cohesive solution approaches.
  • Assist in devising the Agile team’s analysis strategy.
  • Provide support in estimating, planning, scheduling, and prioritizing work.
  • Apply documentation standards and procedures.
