The Fidelity Institutional Technology group is looking for an expert and highly motivated Principal Systems Analyst to be part of its diverse, globally distributed team of IT professionals responsible for the development and maintenance of Fidelity’s Institutional Client Platforms and Products.
A successful candidate will be a key member of an agile delivery squad partnering with the Product Owner and Developers to:
- Help drive current and future state application analysis
- Help craft functional solutions to business needs
- Identify system requirements and associated epics
- Write user stories that include concise and clear system requirements that will be handed off to developers
- Produce use case documents and system diagrams
- Develop domain expertise
The Expertise and Skills You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in technology-related subject area
- 8+ years systems analysis experience working with enterprise, customer facing web applications
- Experience driving systems analysis and story refinement in an Agile/Scrum environment
- Good understanding of various web application components and how they interact with each other (e.g. web pages, API’s, backend systems)
- JIRA expert
- Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Deep experience using a wide range of analysis techniques and technologies to deliver high quality technical analysis
- Experience providing deep technical analysis of customer facing internet applications developed using modern technologies such as Angular, Java/Javascript, CSS, HTML, Spring/Spring Boot, REST, and SOAP
- Proven experience implementing data sourcing and mapping analysis for REST and SOAP services
- Ability to analyze backend data sources by writing SQL queries
- Ability to analyze application logs using Datadog, Splunk or similar for both testing and production support
- Proven expertise identifying, defining and documenting clear and concise systems requirements, translating business needs into technical design solutions, identifying systems, interdependencies, and creating detailed design documents
- Ability to detail end-to-end systems integrations via Process Flow diagrams and to communicate sophisticated technical concepts and designs related to cloud (AWS) and on-premise web products
- Ability to translate analysis into JIRA/Agile stories that meet all acceptance criteria and can be handed off to developers for immediate execution
- Able to work on own initiative, highly proactive, self-motivated, resourceful

- Provide systems analysis support on an Agile team that includes multiple business and technology partners
- Collaborate with other Agile teams to identify dependencies and define scope
- Work with business and technology partners to define the scope of problems/issues and translate into system requirements
- Develop user stories, acceptance criteria, and story maps
- Participate in backlog refinement sessions. Translate sophisticated business needs into clear, actionable, requirements/user stories
- Collaborate with Agile team members to research and evaluate alternative solutions
The Team
Fidelity Institutional provides products and services to banks, broker/dealers, registered investment advisors, family offices, and other financial intermediaries to meet their brokerage and banking needs. The FI technology platform is delivered to these external clients, primarily via web-based and mobile applications, application programming interfaces, transmission files, and collaborates with third-party applications. Some of these offerings include trading, account servicing and maintenance, account opening and money movement, reporting, analytics, and data delivery and presentation
Please see the below pay rate range for the work locations in Rhode Island only: $55.00-89.76 per hour.
Placement in the range will vary based on job responsibilities and scope, geographic location, candidate’s relevant experience, and other factors.
